FAQ

  • How long will refinished cabinets last?

There are a lot of variables to consider when answering the question of how long a finish will last.

A lot depends on how well the cabinets are cared for, some people are harder on their kitchens while others wipe and clean them every day. Something else to consider is going from stained wood to a white solid pigment just like anything white, imperfections stand out more. That’s with a refinish or a raw wood solid finish. Movement of your home can cause shifting from expansion and contraction causing cracking in the caulking where the cabinets meet moldings and at joints along walls. Hitting a solid paint on the edge with a pot pan or scraping with something sharp will often damage the finish, metal usually will win the battle against wood! Regardless of how superior a finish claims to be.

  • What is the difference between refinishing my cabinets and refacing my cabinets?

We go through the same steps on both a refinish and a reface, but the difference with a reface is you get all new door and drawer fronts in the style of your choice.

We refinish all your frames and then order you new door fronts in the style you choose and finish them to match your frames.

  • Will someone need to come out to my house to get me a quote?

Not at first. We can usually get you an idea of the cost based on your location, pictures, and a count of all doors and drawers. Once you get a quote and you decide it is within your budget and would like to move forward, we would then set up a time for someone from Dade’s Designs to come out to your home and meet with you. At that time, once we know what look you are trying to achieve, we will be able to get you a more accurate estimate.

  • How long would it take to refinish or reface my cabinets?

Most jobs usually take 2 weeks give or take a few days. The first week is spent in our shop working on refinishing your doors and then the second week we are in your home working on your frames and then installing your finished door and drawer fronts.

  • What's Milesi, you ask?

At Dade’s Designs, high-quality products are the name of our game. That's why we exclusively use Milesi. What's Milesi, you ask? If you haven't heard, it's a renowned paint company, known for its high-quality finishes (and yeah, they're used by yacht and aerospace manufacturers!). Lucky for us this marvelous paint is also used by home decorators worldwide. That's why we can proudly say we exclusively use premier Milesi paints for our topcoats.

Every day, we choose high-quality Milesi paints known for their durability because we know our customers live and build their lives in their homes. That's why we pick their products that are scratch and chip-resistant to give you a little peace of mind. If we're getting down to the nitty-gritty, we go the extra mile and opt-in for Milesi specialty paint formulas to reduce even microscopic cracks. So trust us when we say we've got you covered.

We're pretty seasoned when it comes to cabinetry, so we know that everyone will eventually have a few cracks in their cabinets (even if they're just microscopic). Not to worry, these cracks naturally occur as your home settles. How do you ask? The wood in your walls and cabinets expands and contracts due to seasonal changes in temperature and humidity. Here at Michigan Perfection Painting, we understand that over time, the paint finish undergoes stress, which lets in more moisture, creating larger cracks and eventually leading to an unsightly looking room. As we said before, we've got you covered. We've already thought it through for you because Milesi specialty paint formulas reduce even microscopic cracks.

With Milesi products, you'll be able to enjoy your new look immediately. After the initial dry time, you won't be subjected to odors that are commonly associated with freshly painted rooms. In addition, the surfaces are easily cleaned with a wet rag, and no harsh chemicals are needed.
